Product Description
Hermes is the messenger of the gods in Greek mythology. An Olympian god, Hermes is also the patron of boundaries and travelers, shepherds and cowherds, thieves and road travelers, orators and wit, literature and poets, weights and measures, athletics, invention, general commerce, and the cunning of thieves and liars. The symbols of Hermes include the tortoise, rooster, winged sandals, and the caduceus. The analogous deity of the Romans is Mercury.
Hermes protects and cares for all of the travelers, miscreants, old crones, harlots, and thieves that cross his path or pray to him. As the messenger of the gods, he does his job well. Hermes is athletic and always looking out for runners, or any other type of athletes, who are inured or need help. He is a messenger from the gods to humans, sharing this role with Iris. Hermes delivers messages from Olympus to the mortal world. He wears shoes with wings, which he uses to fly freely between the two worlds. Hermes was the youngest of the Olympian gods. His name is the origin of the word 'hermeneutics', the art of interpreting hidden meaning.
